Women in Business Wednesdays: April 29, 2015

Did you know that Ann B. Davis (1926-2014), “Alice” from the Brady Bunch, was born in Schenectady, NY?  “Alice” was the Brady’s – and America’s – housekeeper, a position that, still today, ranks in the top 25 positions held by women employed full-time.  In that role, women make 99% of the compensation men in those same positions make.  Women make 100% of the salary of men as preschool or kindergarten teachers – because the US Department of Labor reports no men serving in that profession.  Read sobering statistics about the disparity in compensation for men and for women for 25 different jobs.   The most common profession for women is “secretaries and administrative assistants,” and yet women in those roles earn, on average, only 84.5% of a what men in that position earn.  Read more here, but let’s see what we can do to help each other out!
